All my life I have been fascinated by light and how it provokes stories and imagination. I have been drawing or creating colour since an early age - including a spell as a semi-professional stage lighting designer. My real interest in painting was sparked when I trained with Dina Southwell in Essex. I move between landscapes, still life paintings and abstracts. Each is its own challenge and pleasure.
My main ambition is to give a sense of narrative and movement to the images I create; often trying to recapture moments caught on the move. Although I use many different media, I always return to oils as I love their malleability. For me painting is a form of sculpture.
